Christmas Decorating with Nearly Natural

Hi friends!  I don’t know about you, but due to the pandemic and wanting to add some festivity to our home, I have started decorating for the holidays earlier than ever.  I suppose all rules are out the door since its 2020.  Believe it or not all the stores are selling fresh garlands and wreaths already.  I even found a Christmas tree lot open.  I still think that getting a tree before Thanksgiving is a cardinal sin.

I was thrilled when Nearly Natural offered some holiday decor for me to try out. They have a variety of Christmas items in their Christmas Shop including artificial trees, wreaths, swags and garlands.  In addition to Christmas decor, they they have artificial plants and tress for indoors and out for any season under the sun.  I spotted a faux fiddle leaf fig tree that was totally up my alley when browsing their site.  Oh my!

Up first is an amazing faux magnolia wreath with hints of gold for extra glamour.  It definitely makes a statement on my gold faux bamboo mirror.  I love the touch of gold.  No ordinary magnolia wreath here. I have had plain green magnolia wreaths in the past and they are just kind of ho-hum.  I once spray painted a real magnolia wreath after Christmas with gold spray paint and used it the next year.  So, I like hints of gold to say the least!

For our outdoor decorations, I opted for Nearly Natural’s Cedar, Ruscus, Magnolia and Berry wreath.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  The best part about this wreath is that it transitions nicely from fall to winter.  It could be placed in fall and eventually become part of winter and Christmas decor. I love the way it pops against our black door.  It is so life like you have to touch it to discover that it is faux. The white of the magnolia and red berries just pop against the black.

Here is a close up. Isn’t it amazingly life-like?

Well my Christmas decorating has just begun and thanks to Nearly Natural, it is off to a great start.  What about you?  Are you decorating early this year or not decorating at all because it’s 2020? I feel like most people I know are really getting in the spirit early this year, but I would totally get folding in the towel this year and not decorating at all.  That is what I did with fall decor this year.  Just felt uninspired.

I hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving and are ready to start decorating over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Until next time!

**This is not a sponsored post.  Nearly Natural did provide wreaths for my review, but all opinions, as always, are my own.

Holiday 2017 Gift Guide For Her

The shopping is about to get real y’all!  I went to Trader Joes this morning when they opened to get something I needed for Thanksgiving.  The store had not even opened yet and there were people with carts lined up to get in.  The anxiety was palpable.  So, in an effort to ease your shopping woes, I have prepared serveral gift guides for the holiday season.  First up, is a gift guide for her.  I guarantee any woman on your list would be happy with one of these gifts wrapped up under the tree.

Velvet Jacket Throw / Sleep Gift Set / Clutch / Cuff / Flats

I am hoping to do some online shopping this weekend to hit some of the sales!  Have a very wonderful Thanksgiving and I will be back with more gift guides.

Our 2016 Holiday Home Tour

Hi everyone!!  I have teamed up once again with the fabulous Marty at A Stroll Thru Life and many other talented bloggers to show you our holiday homes decked out in holiday cheer.  There is so much talent and so many different design styles, these tours are chock full of inspiration.  A huge thank you to Marty for putting this all together.

If you are coming over from Pam at Simple Details– Welcome!  I just love Pam’s chic style and eye for detail, and man can that girl spy a Craigslist find!  If you are new here, I’m Jennifer – a Human Resources consultant by day and a design enthusiast and blogger in the wee hours of the night! Our family recently purchased our dream home that we rented for 3 years, so are so excited to fix it up and make it our own one room at a time. Bye bye beige walls and hello color!

So, without further ado, welcome to our home.  Get yourself a hot chocolate and come on in!

I thought it would be fitting to start with the entry to our home.  This is the only place where you will find traditional holiday green and red.  Here, Santa is in his sleigh full of gifts for good girls and boys! I embellished it by adding garland, a poinsettia and some birch accents.

As you walk into our home we have a small entry table and a long hallway.  This hallway was recently painted and declutterd and we added sconces.  The runners are from Home Decorator’s Collection and they look vintage and a great price.  I get compliments on them all the time.

Our tree is very similar to last year’s with a few additional ornaments.  I have collected jewel-toned ornaments forever, so while it is tempting to want to go with more traditional colors, it would be expensive to start over.  Maybe one of these years!

Our jewel-toned tree blends great with our new navy sofa and walls in the hallway.

I thought I would give our gold faux bamboo mirror its own bling with a magnolia leaf wreath with a few of the leaves painted gold.

I added some white bottle brush trees from Target to my obelisk collection and voila- instant Christmas decor.

One thing I did this year was to decorate my daughter’s rooms for the holidays.  I just did a few embellishments based on the colors already in their rooms.  This is my older daughter’s room and I added to already bright decor with pinks and greens.  The wreaths are Smith and Hawkin from Target.

I used simple craft store tassels and faux gems to dress up the gift packages.

My younger daughter’s room is much more neutral, so I went with winter white, grey and pink.  I found the fun “Let it Snow” banner on clearance at Homegoods last year after Christmas.

These are a few of the Eiffel Tower ornaments I have collected over the years.

This is the first year I have decorated our breakfast nook.  With the new wallpaper, I thought that blue nd white colors would be fitting and I threw in some very pale pink with ribbon and Amaryllis flowers.

I added tons of wreaths and even put garland on the Chinoiserie chandelier.  Some vintage white peacocks top it off. It makes it look like a birdcage to me!

Merry Christmas 2015

I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of my readers!  I realize there are a million amazing blogs out there and I really appreciate that you take them time to see what inspiration is going on in my world.

This has been a great year for me and the blog.  I had some amazing partnerships with some great brands and we purchased our dream home.  Next year, I hope to show you the progress as we renovate the home and hope to post more frequently!

Anyway . . . I hope you have an amazing Holiday and thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading!

Our 2015 Holiday Card

Hi friends!  I recently had a friend ask on Facebook if we thought the internet had killed the Christmas card.  With all of the digital options these days, I could see how one could think that might be true.

However, one of the things I look forward to each holiday season, is getting the mail and seeing Christmas cards with our smiling friends and family on the cover.  Given our busy and hectic lives these days it is nice to connect with people we don’t see all the time.

I love doing a card each year.  Here is our 2015 Holiday Card.  I tend to prefer jewel tones for Christmas rather than traditional red and green.  Hence, our card is “Merry and Bright.”  It is from the Tiny Prints holiday card collection.

In order to make sending the cards a breeze, I used these coordinating personalized address labels.  One less thing to do!

As if sticking a sticker on is not easy enough, I also have this personalized address stamp I will use.  I have wanted one of these for years and now that we are finally in our “forever” home, I can justify it.

What do you think?  Do you like to stray from red and green once in a while?  Do you think the internet killed the Christmas card?  Do send cards every year?

Holiday Home Tour

Happy Monday friends!  I am so excited to welcome you into our home to see our holiday home this year.  It is a little pink, a little green and a little in between.  I hope you enjoy and find some inspiration!  Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions. The first thing you see when you enter is our tree.  I tried to minimize it in these pictures, but you will see it is leaning just a bit.  I think it gives our tree a little “character.”  I wrote about my leaning tree and other holiday calamaties here.

I used some small strips of ribbon in different lengths and colors to add a punch of color to this simple boxwood wreath.  I just used ribbon I had on hand from gift wrapping, so it was super inexpensive.

Here is a shot of our tree with the lights on and a blur effect.

This year, I used gold polka dot gift wrap and faux bois gift wrap with tons of pink and green ribbon.  You can read about my faux bois obsession here.

The dining room is a bit wild with a fun zebra theme.  I found the fun zebra wrapping paper at Paper Source.

I opted for a more neutral color palette in the living room.  The Joy pillows are Threshold from Target and I adore them!

I’m Dreaming of a Pink Christmas

One of the perks of having little girls is getting to decorate their rooms and wardrobes with all kinds of girly fun.  This year when I asked my 5-year old how she wanted to decorate her room for Christmas, her resounding answer was “Pink!!”  So, this year in honor of Pinkalicious, (those who have little girls will know exactly what I mean) we are Dreaming of a Pink Christmas.

This is how my daughter’s room turned out and I am “tickled pink” by the results.  I will share the rest of our holiday home tour soon.  It is also influenced by the pink theme going on in my daughter’s room.

Pink Christmas Home Tour 5

The block letters  and wreath are after Christmas clearance finds from Target last year.  I posted all about my steals and deals post-Christmas here.

Pink Christmas Home Tour 6

I found the fun pink and green wrapping paper at Homegoods off-season.  I like to use regular wrapping paper rather than Christmas themed wrapping paper for my gifts.  I found these fun tassels on clearance at Target and Hobby Lobby and thought they would be so fun to use instead of ribbon.

Pink Christmas Home Tour 1

I also used little faux gems I bought for my daughter ages ago at a craft store.  She used them to sort colors and shapes when she was younger and I am so glad they found a new home!

Pink Christmas Home Tour 2

The pink tree was an impulse buy.  After much nagging and begging my daughter won and it went home with us!

For a tree topper, I made a DIY urchin.  You can see the tutorial I wrote for how to make them here. Could not be easier.

The stockings are from Tiny Prints.  Did you know that they have a line of home decor and holiday decor?  The ombre pink stocking was perfect for my theme!

The vanity needed pops of pink as well, so I incorporated some pink roses in this fun Oh Joy for Target pitcher.

As if we could not get any more pink, this is our holiday card this year.  It is from Tiny Prints and I adore it.

Do you decorate with a specific theme or color for Christmas, or do you stick to the same scheme each year?  I usually work with what I have, but mix it up a bit by adding in a new color.

From my family to yours . . . Have a very Merry Pinkmas!

DIY Candy Presents

DIY Candy Present Pink Christmas wrapping

This year I am “Dreaming of a Pink Christmas.”  My theme this year for Christmas decorating is pink and gold with a little bit of green throw into the mix.  Having two little girls definitely lets me play with my girly side and decorating their room for Christmas is no exception!  I saw something similar to these on Pinterest last year and I could not wait to recreate them.  Here is what you will need:

  • Florist crepe paper.  I found mine at World Market, but you can also find it online here.
  • Glitter ribbon.  I found mine here.
  • Ball shaped object of choice.  I used ornaments, but you could also wrap up oranges or anything that is circular.

I simply wrapped the ornaments up, tied the sides up with ribbon and then clipped the ends.  It could not have been simpler. They are going to be part of the decorations this year in my daughter’s room.  More to come soon, so stay tuned!

My grandmother recently gave me this beautiful antique compote dish that looks like the perfect candy dish.  So, I made some smaller candy presents to look like they are candy filing the dish.

I think this is such a fun and different way to wrap gifts!  What do you think?  What color are you dreaming of Christmas in this year?  Are you a classic red and green lover, or do you like less traditional decor?
