2018 Spring Home Tour

Hello friends both old and new.  Marty at A Stroll Thru Life has done it again and has a team of 30 bloggers ready to show you their homes decked out for Spring. If you are heading over from Vel at Life & Home at 2102 -Welcome! Don’t you just love Vel’s home?  She loves Chinoserie like me and her home is so open and bright.  She has the most amazing windows!

If you are new here, I’m Jennifer – a Human Resources consultant by day and a design enthusiast and blogger in the wee hours of the night!  Our family recently purchased our dream home that we rented for 3 years, so are so excited to fix it up and make it our own one room at a time. Bye bye beige walls and hello color!

So let’s start the tour.  We have had a ton of late rain this spring, so while I would love to show you our outdoor spaces spruced up for Spring, that was not in the cards this year.  So, we will start with our small entry way.  I think it is so important, no matter how large or small, to create some sort of entry space in your home.  This year, I decked ours out in classic sunny daffodils for Spring.

Come on in next to our living room.  I decorated in pastels for spring.  I added flowers, pillows and a fun throw in pastel hues.

The other side of our living room has a conversation area with two chairs.  I added these fun neutral pillows with tassels from Target for a clean Spring look.

In my daughter’s room I added this faux fiddle leaf fig from World Market.  I also added this fun bunny alarm clock from Pottery Barn Kids.  Cautionary tale:  It looks super cute, but is not the best design.  It is so top heavy it constantly falls over.

In our dining room I tried to create a garden Chinoserie vibe.

The pagodas are from Ballard Designs and I adore them.

The fun green trellis tablecloth was a Homegoods find.

The inspiration for the table started with these pagoda accent plates from Pottery Barn.  I added some fern branches and a flower for an added touch.

Every year, I always try and incorporate some Hunter rain boots into my tour.  This year I went for classic black.  Last year it was these purple boots and before that it was these pink boots.   Did you hear that Hunter is coming out with a collaboration with Target this April?  Count me in!

Last up is our breakfast nook.  Pastel eggs and some macarons made it extra special.  The fun bunny plates are from Target.

Well that is it.  I hope you enjoyed the tour and that you got some inspiration for your Spring home.  Up next is Summer from Simple Stylings.  Her style is so unique and bohemian.  You simply must head over and see what she has in store.

Here is the the entire week’s lineup.

  1. Marty Oravetz says:

Oh so pretty. I love how you use such gorgeous flowers to decorate for Spring. Every room looks so beautiful. I especially love those pagodas too. Thanks so much for joining the tours, your home is full of inspiration.

  2. Oh the pink against your gray walls is just perfection! The bunny eared alarm clock sure made me smile. Happy spring!

  3. It’s all so pretty! The tablescapes are adorable. Love those pagoda plates.

  4. Julia@Cuckoo4Design says:

Always love how you use color! So so pretty

  5. Everything is beautiful, but I absolutely love that entry table with all the blue and pops of yellow!

  6. Jennifer – I love all of the fun Spring touches you’ve added to your beautiful home and am fawning over your wall color in the entryway. Gorgeous!

  7. Oh my goodness! So beautiful! I love all your springy touches–bunnies are my favorites! ALSO, though, your color choices–particularly in the dining room and living room! We just bought a new(old) house, and those colors on your walls(complete with the green lattice print in the dining room)are what I’m hoping to use. Do your living and dining adjoin? I’m a bit nervous about the teal walls next to the navy. Your post has inspired me!
Hope you have a Happy Easter!

    • Hi April. When we bought this house it was an older (1920’s) home that had been a rental that had nothing but beige walls. The first thing we did was painted. I think the colors work even though the rooms adjoin because they are both jewel tones. I say trust your gut- it’s just paint after all! Thanks so much for stopping by. xo

      • Our home was built in 1931! Do you happen to know what paint colors you used? I’m terrified of finding a teal that’s entirely too bright. Twelve foot ceilings means a LOT of paint! 🙂

  8. Jennifer,
I love all your Spring touches but especially your tablescape. I am also a lover of all things chinoserie so your Ballard pagodas where right up my alley and I just bought that same green trellis tablecloth today at HomeGoods. I found a circa 1960’s Drexel faux bamboo table and chairs two years ago and lacquered them in white and upholstered the chairs in a blue leopard.

  9. Beautiful, Jennifer! Your living room is one of my all-time favorites and those pagodas on your dining table are EVERYTHING!! Happy Spring!

  10. OMG Jennifer I would love to steal your entry table and everything on it! LOL! You know how much I love the blue and white! I also adore the tulips in your living room, you always style your home so effortlessly! Your Dining room is divine and yes, I want those pagoda plates! Ugghhh, this home tour just makes me want to shop so much more! As always so honored to share this home tour with you dear! Cheers!
