Layering Mirrors

I am a big fan of using mirrors to decorate just about any space.  They can trick the eye and create the look of more space of in a small space, and create interest and sparkle in just about any room.  I was intrigued by the images below that layer mirror upon mirror.  I think it is the perfect way to break up a wall or create a focal point.  It would also be a great way to update a boring, outdated bathroom!

I have never tried this and I am sure there is some type of adhesive to attach the mirrors.  Maybe I will  try it and report back!

What do you think?  Intriguing or overkill?

Have a wonderful Monday!!

A Cinderella Story

When we first moved into our home I found this mirror in our garage that had been left by the prior owner.  It was dirty, dusty, a hideous tone of wood, and frankly quite ugly.  Like Cinderella it had been banished to the garage to waste away, its beauty never to be seen again.

Uggo I know!

However, it had good bones.  It had a nice shape and had some detailed carve work on it.  Being the Fairy Godmother I am, I thought maybe some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint could give it some charm and restore it to its former beauty.

Bibbidi BobbidiBoo with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey and some gold rub and buff, I transformed the mirror into this.

Mirror Mirror (Propped) On The Wall

I posted here about some Target finds I found a few months ago.  I could not pass up this wooden starburst mirror I found for only $14.00.

While I liked the classic lines, I was not a fan of the bland wood tone.  It just didn’t stand out to me.

So, I decided to pick up two small bottles of craft paint and paint away.

This is the end result:

I used two different colors of craft paint with a metallic sheen.  The brand was Folk Art in Metallic Taupe and Metallic Sahara Gold.  The were about $2.00 each and I found mine at Michael’s.

I think I am going to put it above the bed in our bedroom.  While I love pops of color around my house, my bedroom is mostly neutral and I think this mirror will blend in nicely.

I propped it above the bed just to test it out. FYI – It takes an act of God to get ANYTHING hung in this house by my husband, so it might remain propped for a long time!  I should really take matters into my own hands, but we have these old plaster walls that just crumble when you try to hang things.

Can you believe the mirror only cost me $14.00?  It was 70% off at Target.  For my tips and tricks for scoring great decor steals at Target go here.

What do you think?  Do you like it above the bed?  Should I “prop” it somewhere else?  Do tell in the comments!
