This is somewhat old news in the design world, but I thought I would let you know what Pantone’s color of the year is for 2014. Pantone (THE authority on anything color from clothes to home design to cosmetics) has named “Radiant Orchid” color of the year for 2014.
The color of the year for 2013 was Emerald Green and in 2012 it was Tangerine Tango.
For the color shy, this is a bold choice. I personally like it, but it is not for the faint of heart. There are ways, however, to introduce this trend in doses or in a tone downed way. You could introduce it in pillows, drapes, glassware, towels and other home decor accents.
Here are a few inspiration shots to see how it can be incorporated into interiors.
Now, I am not going to go out and paint my walls this color. I definitely think it works best as an accent. In fact, last year, I painted this console table a very similar shade of purple.
What do you think? Will you incorporate any “Radiant Orchid” into your interior or fashion design this year?
xoxo

[…] such a deep, rich and smokey color, I think it transitions well into fall. It is also similar to Radiant Orchid which was Pantone’s color of the year. See how luxe it feels in the rooms […]
