Money Pit Update: New Floors for the Kitchen

Hi everyone! Happy weekend.  I have home projects swirling around my head these days.  We really need want a total kitchen renovation, however right now that is not in the budget.  We are however, going to start the process by replacing the floors.  Right now the floors are laminate faux wood flooring and it has seen better days.  We pulled up a portion of the floor hoping it had real hardwood floors underneath like the rest of our house, but found nothing but sub-floor. It was a  bit of a bummer because instead of just refinishing the floor, we have to completely replace it, which is much more expensive.

On the positive side, that means I get to choose what I want to put in.  Rather than doing basic hardwood floors I want to do a pattern to add some interest.   Of course, the bid was double the price of regular hardwood floors and my husband rolled his eyes at me.  Doesn’t he know me by now??  How fun is this pattern below?

I love the patterns in the images below as well.

Gorgeous, right?

We have the installation scheduled for August and then we will refinish the floors in the rest of our house, which will be a serious pain to move the furniture.  Stay tuned!

Do you have hardwood floors in your kitchen?  What are the pros/cons?

Until next time.

Jennifer
