Decorating Trends for 2018

Hey friends!  Happy Saturday.  I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm.  We have been facing a slew of flu bugs here in our house, so we have been laying pretty low these days.

I have been reading up on design trends for 2018 and here are few of my favorites.

Herringbone Patterns

I had to mention this one first, as we recently installed new hardwood floors in our kitchen in a herringbone pattern.  I could not be more pleased and am glad to know that I am “on trend.”  Aren’t these floors just dreamy??

Velvet Furniture

Just as in fashion, velvet is in big time.  While I think it is going to be a quick trend, if you do it in a more neutral color, it could stand the test of time.

Tone on Tone

Just as the image below reveals this trend is about putting two of the same tones together.  Here it is the walls and the furniture.  It gives off a cozy and enveloping vibe.

Large Scale Art

Say adios to the gallery wall.  Apparently, large scale art is up next.  I am kind of glad to see gallery walls go away for a while.  They are a tad trendy and overdone.

Bar Carts

Bar carts have been popular for a few years now, but they are coming onto the design scene big time.  They are so fun to decorate and style.  I have a budget one I purchased at Target a few years back and I am looking to trade up.  Maybe for something vintage?

Bone Inlay

I love this trend and wish I could afford it!  Because the pieces tend to be handmade, they can get pricey.  I have heard of some people finding deals at Homegoods so I will have to keep my eyes out!

Mixed Metals

This trend has been around a while, but I think it is here to stay.  So many people thing everything has to be one metal tone, such as all silver or all brass, but mixing them metals up creates a collected looking space versus matchy matchy.

These are just a few of my favorite predicted trends.  There are many more floating out there.  Do you have a favorite projection.

Until next time . . .

Jennifer
