Not Just for Teens

One of my favorite decorating tricks is to find cheaper versions of Pottery Barn products at Pottery Barn Kids and PB Teen.  I have a few chandeliers from Pottery Barn Kids that are just smaller versions of pricey Pottery Barn chandeliers.

PB Teen has collaborated with celebrity stylists and designers Emily Current and Meritt Elliott to create a chic and whimsical line of home goods.  It totally caters to my current obsession with white and gold. Check out this adorable gold polka dot bedding.  It is the Emily + Meritt metallic Dottie Collection.

The bedding is reversible to a metallic gold and white stripe.  Bonus!  And, it comes in a queen so us adults can enjoy it too.  Double bonus!!

How luxe is this Emily + Meritt Travelers trunk?  What a sophisticated way to store about anything.

Finally, how whimsical is this Emily + Meritt gold unicorn wall mount?  What girl (or woman) doesn’t love a good unicorn?  It so brings me back to days of doodling rainbows and unicorns!!

I never rule out any source when it comes to decorating and I think PB Teen and Kids are a good way to get the look for less on certain pieces.  I think this collection by Emily + Meritt is sophisticated enough for an adult.

Have you ever found a steal by shopping at the more affordable PB Teen or Pottery Barn Kids?

If Money Were No Object . . .

Happy Friday Y’all!  On today’s episode of If Money Were No Object is the Chinese Chippendale Chair.  I have wanted one of these FOREVER!

I have scoured Craigslist and Ebay to find one of these to no avail.  The ones on Ebay are usually vintage and tend to be expensive and sometimes in need of repair.  So, I did some research and found this company that will make custom Chinese Chippendale Chairs for you.  That is right CUSTOM!!
Charlotte and Ivy will design a custom chair for $369.  You pick the finish, color and fabric!  You can even designate a certain level of distressing on the wood.
chair colors chair fabrics So, I went in and played “designer.”
If money were not object . . .This beauty would be mine.
I think I would put this in my daughter’s bedroom.  How stylish and cute for a little girl!
And, if money were really no object, I would probably get two (right??).  So, my second choice would be this one.
I would love to use this as a desk chair (if I ever have a space big enough for an office)!

Below is a bit more inspiration.  These chairs can go with a modern or traditional scheme and are so versatile.

Have you been able to score a deal on one of these beauties?  Aren’t they timeless?
Have a wonderful weekend!!

H&M Home Line . . .Hmmmmm Good

Ever since my sister moved to San Francisco, I have been in love with European retailer H&M.  They are known for their modern, stylish and affordable clothing for men, women, and children.  Alas, the retailer did not sell online, so I had to make the trek to San Francisco to get my H&M fix.

I have eagerly awaited the debut of their home line. which I anticipated would be as effortlessly chic and cheap as the clothing.  It. Did. Not. Disappoint.  They currently have a Basics Collection and several themed collections.  The Basics Collection is organized by material: Linen, Shine, Velvet, Cotton, Terry and Glass.  The collections are Fall Days, Bohemian Garden, Shiny Sophistication, and Urban Western.

The products appeal to a variety of design aesthetics.  There is modern glamour, tribal, shabby chic, french vintage and more!  Some of my favorites are below!

Something fore everyone, right??

Some of my individual favorites are the pillows and accessories:

H&M Round Velvet H&M Knit Pillow H&M Tribal Pillow H&M Tea Light Holders

These votive holders are so chic and only $3.95!

In a tragic twist of fate, the home collection is only available online and not for sale in any of the Northern California retailers near me (1st world problem, I know).  On the plus side, they now sell items online and flat rate shipping is only $5.95.

At that price you can afford to go forth and get your chic on!

Oh, and I just have to share. . .They also have some adorable nursery decor at H&M.  If you are in the market or are going to a baby shower, check out these adorable finds:

H&M Storage Boxes

The last one is a set of storage boxes made to look like books.  Love how whimsical it all is!

Until tomorrow . . .

Come on Get Happy!

Did you know that JcPenney has partnered with famed decorator Jonathan Adler on a line of home decor and housewares aptly named “Happy Chic?”  Really, the JcPenney’s (or Penney’s as my dad would say) where my dad has always bought his underwear, has a fabulous and affordable collection by the fun, modern, and chic Jonathan Adler??  This mass retailer is truly providing a style icon’s look for less.

Jonathan Adler fans will not be disappointed.  The offerings are modern, cheerful and of course chic.  Here are a few of my favorites (if I had to choose)!

How gorgeous are these pieces?  The most expensive one is the sofa at $1,735, but it is soo glamorous and modern.  As of the time of posting, all of these items are on SALE and I would bet they are headed for clearance soon so keep an eye out!  Remember my motto- “retail is for suckers.”

These amazing designer collaborations at JcPenney, Target, and other mass retailers are making high-end design affordable for all.  Now that is something to be HAPPY about!

What do you think?  Chic and Affordable??

This decorating junkie is hoping to score a few high-end looks at a great price!

If Money Were No Object . . .

In the spirit of TGIF, I will be starting a series of posts every Friday that highlight what I would buy if “money were no object.”  It will be a bit of an escape from always trying to find the “look for less.”  In a Pinterest world, you can pin beautiful homes and decor that might never be yours, so why not indulge the spirit and pretend to buy what you would if you could??

Up first, is a piece that has a special meaning for me.  I am a huge fan of Hollywood Regency style and have always loved bamboo style mirrors. My parents have a beautiful white bamboo mirror in their entryway.  They received it as a wedding present – so cute!

I have waaaay to many mirrors in my house to splurge on a new one.  But, if I won the lottery today, I would buy this beauty I spied on One Kings Lane

Greek Key Greek Key Mirror

For $399 it could be mine!!

I really intended to only have one object of desire featured in these posts, but as I perused One Kings Lane, I found so many treasures to fantasize about.  I just HAD to post this one.  We have been toying around with having our two girls share a room and using the extra room for a home office.  Of course, that means finding two perfectly girly and chic matching twin beds, right??

Well, if money were no object, I would be nabbing these from One Kings Lane:

Beds Louis XVI-Style Beds

And  . . . they could be mine for $3,500.  A girl can dream, right?  Sadly, my darling girls will probably be slumbering in made-over thrift store finds!

I could spend hours searching around One Kings Lane for home decor.  I wish I lived at 1 Kings Lane.  What do you think?  Have you ever found an amazing score at One Kings Lane?

Right on Target

I know that everyone these days is obsessed with mass retailer Target.  It has been lovingly nicknamed Tar-zhay for its chic and cheap clothing and home goods. Where else can you buy Q-Tips in the same trip as a designer maxi-dress or Nate Berkus lamps?  They have the most amazing collaborations with top fashion and interior designers.  You can definitely get designer styles for less!  A great chance to try a new trend.

I am almost embarrassed to admit how many lovely pieces in my home come from Tar-zhay.  Target’s new Threshold line of household and home decor items is also to die for and constantly changing with the seasons.  Here are some of my favorites this season.

Target is definitely on my list of stores for budget friendly home decor.   I also almost never pay retail at Target because I find that most of the home decor goes on sale- up to 70% off.  I have some tips I will be sharing soon about how to score serious deals at Target.  Stay tuned!
