DIY Lucite Towel Bar and a Giveaway Winner!!!

Hi all!  Just popping in to show you a quick DIY project I did over the weekend and announce the winner of the Delta In2ition showerhead.

First things first.  Stephanie Grant who followed Decorating Delirium on Pinterest is our lucky winner. Stephanie, I have sent you an e-mail with details.  My 3 year blogging anniversary is in September, so mark your calendars for another exciting giveaway!

So, if you are a long time reader, you may recall that I made DIY Lucite Curtain Rod last year. The lovely company,  Nationwide Plastics, who custom-made the curtain rods, shipped the excess lucite that had to be cut off.  What was left was the perfect amount for a towel bar.  When we remodeled our master bath, I knew that eventually I would use the leftover lucite to make a towel bar.  6 months later, I finally got around to doing it.

The process could not have been easier.  I simply used a saw (yes, a saw) to cut the lucite to appropriate length and then used an electric sander to buff out the rough edges.  I used the same hardware to mount the rod as I did for my curtains.

I am loving the modern edge it is giving our bathroom and it cost me basically nothing! Gotta love an almost free DIY.  I have a little bit more left over, so you may be seeing lucite door pulls in the works.

$100 Pottery Barn Gift Card Winner and Find Me On Periscope

Hi friends!  I wanted to pop in this weekend and announce the winner of the $100 Pottery Barn gift card.

Pottery Barn Giveaway

Karen Dunlap you are the lucky winner!!  I have e-mailed you the details.  Happy shopping!!

I also wanted to do a little public service announcement on a fun new social media outlet called Periscope.  Long story short, Periscope is a very new social media app that allows users to broadcast live anytime anywhere.  It is brought to you by Twitter.  Once you begin to follow people you will get an announcement that they are live and you can interact with them in real-time.  It is sort of like Facebook or Instagram with video.

You might be thinking- oh  no, another social media to learn and distract from my life.  But Periscope is actually really fun, and sort of addictive.  As a DIY blogger, I really like it in that I can live broadcast a DIY project or ask for opinions on decorating projects.

I am now on Periscope and the fun thing is it is so  new, no one knows what they are doing!  If you watch one of my broadcasts you will crack up.  I am trying to talk while focusing my camera and then trying to flip the screen all while responding to comments.  Hot mess.  I am sure I will get better, but definitely not for the amateur.

I have a feeling Periscope is going to catch on and become pretty big.  So my advice to you is to go here and take 5 minutes to sign up for Periscope.  Even if you don’t want to use it right away, you can snag your username of choice before it is taken!  Then once you are signed up, be sure to find me @Decordelirium.  I plan to broadcast lots of DIY tips and projects as well as some fun glimpses into our life.

PSA over.  Go back to your regularly scheduled programming and have a great rest of the weekend!

Blogging Anniversary and a GIVEAWAY!!!

Pottery Barn Giveaway

Hi lovelies!  I almost can’t believe it, but this week marks my 2 year blogging anniversary. Blogging has been such a blessing in my life.  It give me an outlet for my creative side.  It gives me a chance to write about something I am passionate about (in case you are wondering, employment law does not do it for me!)  It has also given me the opportunity to meet some amazing blogging buddies that I would probably not met otherwise.  I love how a common interest can bring together people who are really very different based upon their passion.

I am also so thankful for my lovely readers who take the time to read and make comments.  There are a million other design blogs out there to follow and I am so honored that you take the time to connect with me.  In honor of my anniversary I am having a giveaway for a $100 Pottery Barn gift card.  Think of the cozy fall decor you could get?  They even have my favorite tortoise shell pieces.

I also have exciting news coming up that I can’t wait to share regarding some big changes ahead for us.  It is going to involve a ton of opportunity for DIY projects, so I can’t wait to share.

Just follow the Rafflecopter instructions below.

And the Winner Is . . .

Hi Friends! I am happy to announce that the winner of the 8×10 rug pad from RugpadUSA is Abby Barge!  Abby you have been sent an e-mail with instructions for how to collect your prize!

Rugpad USA Premium Log

Stay tuned this week, as I plan to have a few fun posts coming your way.  I have been really inconsistent with my posts lately and I am sorry.  My part-time job started to become more like a full-time job and I am also studying to take a national standardized exam at the end of the month. Hence, blogging time has been limited.  Do you ever have weeks where you seriously don’t think you can have another thing piled on your plate?

Things should slow down for me a bit at the end of the month and I hope to get back to blogging more regularly and tackling some of those DIY projects I have on my list!

RugpadUSA Review and Giveaway!

Happy Monday my lovely readers!!  I have a fun giveaway for you today! A few months back, I was lucky enough to get to try out and review a RugpadUSA rug pad.  I can’t tell you what a difference this made for our area rugs.  The problem we were having was that our rugs were thin and our old rug pad did not provide enough padding.  In addition, the rugs would constantly bunch up and wrinkle.  Our rug pad from RugpadUSA fixed both problems.  You can read my full review here.

The wonderful thing about RugpadUSA rugs is that they are environmentally safe.   In case you did not know, most rug pads are made with pvc or plastic, often chemically ridden, toxic, and harmful for your floors. RugpadUSA offer an eco-friendly alternative to all the cheap and toxic pvc rug pads traditionally available in big box stores.  This has become increasingly important to me, now that I have little ones and a dog who are often so close to and playing on our rugs. RugpadUSA has generously offered to giveaway an 8×10 Superior Lock rug pad to one lucky reader.

All you need to do is enter the Rafflecopter contest below!  Head over to RugpadUSA to check out their full line of eco-friendly rug pads.

Designer Spotlight: Letitia Elizabeth Textiles + A Giveaway

Hello everyone and happy almost Christmas!

Today, I want to share with you a brand I recently discovered and I have fallen head over heals for.  It is called Letitia Elizabeth and they carry a luxurious line of houswares, bedding, textiles and loungeware.

Their patterns are serene yet bold.  The colors are subtle and feminine yet modern.  Their products are sourced locally and ethically and their product is of superior quality.

Letitia Elizabeth 7

Dreamy, right?  I also feel that the textiles are modern enough for a man or a woman. I tend to get push back from my husband if our bedding is to floral or feminine.  This bedding hits the spot for sure!

This “meow”  pillow is one of my favorites.  It is such a soft take on classic animal print.

It is your lucky day, because Letitia Elizabeth has generously offered to giveaway one of their most popular pillows.  What a nice treat after all of that holiday gift giving.

My Christmas Fails and a Giveaway

Hi everyone!  I wanted to pop in today and show you some of my Christmas fails this year. I posted my holiday home tour here and you may be thinking that all of my projects and decor ideas turned out splendidly.  Most of them did, but I also want to show you some of the things I did that did not turn out so well : )

Case Example #1, are these beautiful candles I bought at World Market and this Nate Berkus candle holder.  I adored the Nate Berkus candle holder when I bought it last year.  It was gold and modern- what could go wrong, right?  Well, despite being a candle holder, it does not hold candles very well.  Every candle I put in was wobbly, or leaned, or looked crooked.  I even tried to wrap some tissue paper around the bottom end to stabilize the candles, but no such luck.

The striped candles from World Market are gorgeous, but they did not photograph well at all in the light I was dealing with. Hence, this photo did not make it into my tour!

Case Example # 2, is this gold nail head Christmas tree.  I had seen beautiful DIY versions of gold nail head wreaths and I figured this would be way less labor intensive.  Wrong! I used a styrofoam mold and bought 200 nail heads.  I thought that would be enough, but about 300 nail heads later, I had completed ONE.  I planned to make three, but my project stopped there.  It looked more like an ear of corn than the chic gold tree I was envisioning.  Epic fail.

Did you have any holiday or Pinterest fails this year?  If so, misery loves company, so please share in the comments!

I also ran across this post about a woman who spent an entire day creating abstract dots in her bathroom using a sharpie pen, only to later realize that with the moisture in the bathroom, they bleed.

Gorgeous Shiny Things

On a more positive note, I am going to have an amazing GIVEAWAY for you guys early next week.  You won’t want to miss this one.  You will get the chance to win a sweet treat that will help you get over all the gifts you bought for others over the holidays!  You deserve it!!  So don’t forget to check back in early next week for the chance to win!
