Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Hey all!  I am popping in today to share my picks for Mother’s Day this year.  I actually do these gift guides for personal reasons because sometimes the hubs actually reads the blog and takes the hints.  Last year I got the adorable flamingo flats I wished for here.  Apparently, compulsively dropping hints verbally does not work!  Getting this up later than I planned, but better late than never! Aren’t the macaron trinket boxes adorable?  What is your favorite pick?  Anything special on your wish list this year?

Have a great Monday!! xoxo

Gift Guide for Him (AKA Mr.Hard to Buy for)

Hi everyone!  I am so proud of myself.  I have managed to put together not one, but two gift guides.  Although, this one was put together for purely selfish reasons.  My husband is sooo hard to buy for, so I had to come up with a list of possibilities.  He won’t even take the bait when I ask him what he wants or hint at possible gift ideas.  I on the other hand could not be easier to buy for.  I drop hints left and right and even put together gift guides for her (okay me).

So, here are some ideas for the husband or man in your life.

Do you have any hard to buy for guys in your life?  Do you have a “go-to” gift for men?  Do share in the comments.  We women must unite and share ideas!

DIY Faux Fur Wine Collar

Faux Mink Wine Collar 4 Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I was surprisingly productive despite my family being under the weather.  I was flipping through holiday catalogs over the weekend, and was inspired by this cute faux mink wine collar from Grandinroad. I thought it would make a fun bar cart accessory or hostess gift.  However, at $19.00 I could live without it. Mink Wine Collar I started to think about purchasing some faux mink fabric to do a knockoff, but it was upwards of $20 per yard everywhere I looked.  That is when I realized I had this old toddler coat my girls had outgrown (sorry for the lame iphone pic.) Perfect, right?  I also ended up using the rest of the coat as a tree skirt on a mini tree I am decorating for Christmas.  Stay tuned!! photo I used a seam ripper to detach the collar and then just pinned it and sewed a few stitches with my sewing machine to close up the frayed edges.  I also had an old brooch my grandmother had given me a few years back.  I think it adds just the right amount of sparkle and has special meaning to me. This is how it turned out.  Not bad for free!! Faux Mink Wine Collar 2 . If you are not in a DIY mood you can get a very affordable version at World Market for only $6.99.  It even comes with a hat topper! *_478067_WINE_BOTTLE_FUR_HAT-SHAWL Did you tackle any fun projects this weekend?  Stay tuned in the following weeks as  I have a ton of easy holiday DIY’s coming your way.  In the meantime, you can check out my DIY faux fur tree skirt from last year!

He Reads The Blog!!

I posted here about a list of mother’s day gifts I would LOVE to give or receive.  I jokingly said it would be the true test of love if I received one because it would mean my hubs actually reads the blog.

Well, what do you know . . . I received these adorable shoes on that list from CWonder on Mother’s Day!

All of my hint dropping, subtle and not so subtle paid off!  The best part was the card that said to the “best mom and blogger on the web.”

I hope you all had a wonderful and special Mother’s Day!

Monogrammed bath and hand towels add so much sophistication to a bathroom.  They are such a nice accessory for a room that lets face it . . .can be pretty hard to decorate.  Look at how much impact they make in the rooms below.

Simple Hostess Gifts

Good Morning!  I don’t know about you, but I always seem to scramble at the last minute to find hostess gifts.  Every year, I know I will need a handful, but yet I find myself staring at the wine in the grocery store, choosing a boring bottle of wine.

I promised myself I would be more organized this year, so here are some ideas I plan to try.  They are simple and thoughtful and not an afterthought!

I absolutely love this tea towel from Nordstrom.  You could wrap a bottle of wine in it for a complete gift.

I also love this DIY gift for a cook or entertainer created by Design Mom.  You etch on the pattern, so the options are limitless and no paint is involved so you don’t have to worry about fading or chemicals.

Finally, Caitlin Moran at the Glitter Guide created this adorable glitter succulent pot.  I would be so excited to receive something like this.

Here is to being prepared this year!

Do you have any easy hostess gift tricks up your sleeve?

9 Years and Counting

Today is my 9 year wedding anniversary.  My husband and I are actually high school sweethearts (cue puking sounds), so we have actually been together waaaaay longer than 9 years.  Yes, high school sweethearts still exit.

I was doing a little “research” and apparently the traditional gift for a 9 year anniversary is pottery or copper.  Not to bad for a home decor lover, right?Apparently, the modern spin on this gift is leather goods.  You had me at leather!  This got my heart going.  In honor of our 9 years together, I thought I would compile a list of things I would love in these categories.  Hopefully, my husband will take the hint!

So . . . These beauties called out to me in the copper category.  A beautiful stock pot to cook sumptuous soups for a cozy fall dinner?  A champagne bucket for having bubbly on a romantic evening?

Copper Stock Pot Copper bucket Pottery sounds somewhat boring, until you see these beautiful urns from Pottery Barn.  How gorgeous would these be on a fall table with rustic accents?

  Pottery Barn Tuscan Urns (300x270)

And the first and only contender in the leather category would be the coveted Louis Vuitton carryall.  Perfect for weekend trips to the wine country?  If only my husband read my blog!!

louis vuitton duffel Have a wonderful day!  I will be celebrating tonight.  Feeling giddy like the 15 year old girl I was when we met.

p.s.  The 10 year wedding gift is diamond jewelry.  Woot woot!!
