Treasure Hunting Finds

Hi everyone!

Over the weekend, I spent the most enjoyable day searching for treasures at the Alameda Antique Faire.  It was a gorgeous day with beautiful views of San Francisco across the bay!  I went with Shavonda from SG Style and Katrina from Chic Little House and we had the best day! It is the first Sunday of every month and I will definitely be going back again.

Here is my loot.

Alameda Flea Market Finds

I think my favorite find was the pink rattan stool.  It was only $15 and I think I am going to use it as a foot stool in my little one’s big girl room.  I picked up some books for $2.00 each in pink colorways to go in her room as well.  I also added another ginger jar to my collection.  I can’t get enough blue and white ceramics.  I found some prints in bamboo frames that I will probably use just for the frame and maybe frame some Chinoiserie wallpaper.  Finally, I found a fun gold planter with lion head pulls that I thought would be a perfect fit for the fiddle leaf fig plant I FINALLY found at Home Depot.  You can read about my fondness and search for this plant here. I think it looks great!

Overall, the day was a total success.  Only bummer was getting up at 4:30 a.m. to get to Alameda by 6:30, but it was totally worth it!!

Have you found any good treasures or thrift store finds lately?

Happy Monday y’all!

Pottery Barn Does It Again and My Craigslist Find

Hey everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful holiday.  I hope you had a chance to enter the Letitia Elizabeth Giveaway.  I will be announcing the winner on Wednesday!!

Over the years, I have found myself less and less inspired by Pottery Barn.  I just felt like their catalogs looked the same season after season.  However, I was recently surprised by some of the collections over at PB Teen.  I wrote about the Emily and Merritt collections here and here.  Over the weekend, I opened up the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and was BLOWN away. They have a new collection of chinoiserie inspired goods that are so sophisticated.  I would die for any of the pieces I saw and would admittedly be very jealous of any “kid” lucky enough to have such a room.

Pottery Barn Gemma Collection

Here are some of the pieces from their new collection I am drooling over.

Seriously, how cute is this pagoda monogram.  They have upped the sophistication a notch for sure!

Pottery Barn Pagoda Monogram

Speaking of pagodas, I can’t get over this pagoda lantern from the collection.  The bamboo is to die for.

Pottery Barn Pagoda Pendant

I like their whimsical take on chinoiserie prints here in the bedding.

This gold bamboo mirror is living-room worthy.  It is definitely a more affordable version that what you would find elsewhere!

Pottery Barn Greek Key Pillow

The collection has a line of campaign style dressers called the Gemma Collection.  Campaign style pieces, noted for their bold brass hardware, have been popular for a few years now.  If you get lucky, you can find them at a thrift store or Craigslist, but they are hard to come by.

Pottery Barn Gemma Dresser

That is why it is ironic I am sharing my second ever Craigslist find.  It is a campaign dresser I found for ONLY $50!!!  It needs some love, but with the hardware polished bright gold and some paint, it will be beautiful!  This find could not have come at a better time.  My sister had been lending us a dresser that she needed to reclaim, so my daughter’s clothing had been sitting on her floor for a week.  It was driving me CRAZY.  I was about to run out and buy an outrageously expensive piece with no personality!

Here is what it looks like now:

Pretty ugly now, I know.  It is going to go in my daughter’s room so here is what I envision:

Or, I may go the white and gold route.  I can’t wait to get to work on this project and turn trash into treasure!

What do you think?  What color should I paint this lovely lady?

Currently Coveting: World Market

I popped into my local Cost Plus World Market the other day and they had so many gems for fall. I posted here about copper trending for fall and World Market is spot on the trend.  As always, it is oh so affordable.  Here are a few of my favorites!

I am really loving the striped copper candles.  They would go perfect with what I am brewing up behind the scenes for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Do you ever shop at World Market?  If so, what is your favorite fall find?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  I am hoping to fit in a few DIY projects this weekend.  I am currently working on some drapes for my living room and I hope to tackle that project for sure!

New Fall Line: Oh Joy For Target

It’s almost Fall Y’all!!  I popped into my beloved Target the other day for some “school” supplies and noticed that they had a new Fall line of Oh Joy for Target.  I posted more about her debut line here. Joy of Oh Joy is a lifestyle blogger and creates fun and whimsical designs.  Her line for Target is also totally affordable.

I love how the pieces in the Oh Joy collection can be used in unusual and fun ways to create unique vignettes.  For example, I bought this Oh Joy pitcher on clearance at Target for only $6.  While it would be lovely as a pitcher, I thought it might make a fun vase.  I like how the green compliments the pink roses.  Very Lilly Pulitzer!

And look at how someone styled her goblets.  They are plastic but this makes them look so unique and high-end!

Here is a picture of some of her fall items grouped together.  They are more graphic than the summer line and have subtle pops of color!

Oh Joy Fall Line

Here are my favorites.  Even though I have the goblets from the summer line, I think I have to have the fall colors.  They make the best bud vases and are only $4.00 for a set of 4!

What is your favorite piece in the collection?  Please tell me in the comments!

My First Craigslist Find!!

Over the years I have listened enviously to the stories of friends and other bloggers who score these amazing finds on Craigslist.  I myself have never had much luck.  Don’t get me wrong, I have sold a ton of things on Craigslist, but I had never bought anything.  I have always chalked it up to the fact that I do not search Craigslist everyday or that my area just did not have good selection. That was until last week.

I have been in search of a bigger dresser for my bedroom.  I had a small, vertical dresser that did not provide enough storage and did not fit my space well.  I was looking for a low, horizontal eight drawer dresser.  I had looked and looked and was almost about to compromise by getting an Ikea dresser and hacking it, when I found this vintage Henredon dresser.

It was $200 and came with two of the most amazing mirrors that I show below.  It is so well-built and the drawers are sturdy and provide so much storage.  I plan to immediately change out the hardware and possibly paint it down the road.  So many other projects on the top of the list right now!

Here are the mirrors.  They are vintage faux bamboo mirrors and I love them.  As you can see below, similar mirrors start at about $200.  I would have paid $200 for the mirrors alone.  They were such a bonus to scoring the dresser.  They are a tad boring for my taste so I plan to lacquer them a fun shiny color down the road.

I have seen similar mirrors for around $200-800.  I just saw these two mirrors on Charish.  The first one is $200 and the second is $875!

Serious Style on a Small Budget

Happy Monday!!  I came across a furniture deal that I just had to share.  Of all places, I found this amazing bookshelf and canopy bed at Pottery Barn Teen. Both pieces are from the Maison line and give a Hollywood Regency look for less.  The Maison bookcase is only $599 and the canopy bed starts at only $599 for a twin.  I am seriously considering the bookcase!!

You could use these chic pieces in a child or teen room, however I think they are sophisticated enough for adult spaces.

What do you think?  Do you have a favorite line that is meant for children or teens that has great adult decor as well?

Currently Coveting: Bistro Chairs

Hey y’all!  I posted here about a  new line of furniture by Safavieh at Target.  As I was browsing the collection, I was drawn to these chic and affordable bistro chairs.

French Bistro Chairs Target They also carry a bistro stool.  The arm chairs are only $270 for a set of TWO.  The identical chair is $245 for ONE at Serena and Lilly.

Don’t you just want to hop on the next flight to Paris and spend the day at an outdoor cafe sipping on espresso?  A girl can dream right??

Drop Cloth Decor

Today my friends I have a fun and super budget friendly decorating idea.  You can use simple painter’s drop cloths you can by at home improvement store to make curtains, pillows, slip covers, etc.  The options are endless.

I found a 4ft. x 15ft. drop cloth here at the Home Depot for only $17.00!  Here are some ideas on how to use these hardworking gems!

How adorable are these drop cloth curtains that the Hunted Interior did for her daughter’s big girl room?

Check out what Kate over at Centsational Girl did with drop cloth on the patio.  It has the look of an expensive cabana for much, much less!

Carmel over at Our Fifth House hit it out of the ballpark with these blue stenciled drapes.  You would never know they were made out of drop cloths and look like high-end fabric.  With the range of beautiful stencils out there, you could make anything you can dream up!

Martha Stewart herself is also on board.  She has created canopies, pillows and even an outdoor shower curtain out of drop cloths!

You could also make a hammock out of this inexpensive and easily accessible material.  Can you say Father’s Day gift?

Have you ever tried making something out of painter’s drop cloths?  Mine are mostly spattered with paint, but I may have to run out to Home Depot so I can give this a try!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Mine is going to be busy with a swim meet and ballet recital and I have about 20 home projects I want to tackle. Never enough time!

Home Decorators Collection Baby and Child Line

Have you ever shopped at online retailer Home Decorators Collection?  If not, you have to check it out.  They sell very reasonably priced furniture and home decor accessories that look like they are from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, etc.  I just discovered they have a new line of Baby and Children’s furnishings called Spencer and Gracie that is to die for.   This is perfect for me right now as I am dreaming of decorating my 2 year olds “big girl room” when she moves out of her crib.

Many of the pieces look like they could be from Restoration Hardware Baby and Child, but are a fraction of the cost.  Here are a few of my favorites from the collection.
