Hello friends! I wanted to update you on the progress of our bathroom renovation. Last time I posted about it, this is what it looked like. Eeek!!
We are basically building the bathroom again right up from the sub-floor. There was a ton of dry rot under the whirlpool tub in the bathroom, so the whole floor and wall had to be ripped up. This was actually good because it gave us the option of not replacing the tub. Here is my inspiration pic for what I hope it will look like.
Instead of replacing the window on the bathroom wall and whirlpool tub, we decided to tile the shower from floor to ceiling.
There are so many options for tile, it can be overwhelming. Our house is older and we wanted a classic looking bathroom. So, for the shower, we went for basic white subway tile, but opted for the pattern above with dark grout, to add a graphic element. I also really wanted a frameless shower door like the one below and man are these pricey. Also, we have to wait until all the tile is installed to measure for it and then it takes two weeks to get our custom door!
As for the shower floor and bathroom floor we are going with Carerra marble similar to this.

Having our contractor arrange the subway tile in the pattern above was definitely more labor intensive, but I think it will be totally worth it. If time and money were no object, I considered having marble cut into a herringbone pattern like this.
Gorgeous, right? Those floors – swoon!!
I am hoping it all comes together. IT is sometimes tough to visualize how it will look in the end. Our contractor is starting the tile today. I will keep you posted toward the end of the week with some pics!
What is your bathroom style? Do you prefer classic or more modern? I plan to style the bathroom with some more modern pieces, in order to balance out the traditional elements.
Until next time . . .

Oh wow, you have some fabulous inspiration pics, can’t wait to see how it come together.
