2017 Summer Home Tour

Hello friends both old and new!  If you are joining me from 21 Rosemary Lane – Welcome!  Barbara’s home was amazing.  Her style creates such a fresh, cozy and welcoming home.

Marty at A Stroll Thru Life has done it again and has a team of 30 bloggers ready to show you their homes decked out for summer.  If you are new around here, we bought our older home that needed lots of TLC almost two years ago and are fixing it up one room at a time.  We FINALLY finished our master bedroom makeover, which I have a preview of on the tour.

Let’s get started.  As you walk into our home, the first room you see is our living room.  It used to be awful shade of brown, so I added some color with this dreamy blue.

For summer, I switched up some of our accessories adding coral for a beachy vibe.  I also swapped out the pillows on our couch for these fun blew animal pattern pillows.  They are just beautiful and have tassels on each corner.  I found them at Homegoods and they were a steal.

Adjacent to our living room is our formal dining room.  For this room, I was feeling a tropical vibe with bright colors for summer.

Next to our kitchen (which I will not have photos of because it needs major renovation) is our breakfast nook. These beautiful pink and blue hydrangeas were perfect for this space.

I also added a combination of roses and peonies to my collection of blue and white jars.  I wish peonies were in season all year.  They are gone before I blink my eyes.

Up next is a sneak peak at our master bedroom makeover.  I am still waiting on some art and accessories, but it is 95% done.  You may think I am crazy, but I went with this beautiful pale pink color for the walls.

The bedding is from Ballard Designs and the x-benches are just benches from Target that I upholstered.

I added some tassel trim to basic Ikea curtains to give them some interest

The Chinoserie chandelier was a Craigslist find. It even came with the lampshades!

I am loving these burl wood boxes from CB2.  I can think of a hundred ways to use them to style various areas of my home.  I had actually never shopped at CB2, but am really impressed with the quality of the boxes, given their reasonable price.

One of my favorite things in the space are these three-arm sconces from Gabby Home.  They have gold leaf on the inside of the shades and add a glam touch to the room.

I kept the styling on our dresser rather simple.

I also added some touches to our master bathroom to tie it into the master.  First, I finally got rid of my old terrycloth robe and replaced it with this silk beauty.  I found it at Marshall’s one day and it is from high end lingerie designer Natori.  Definitely shoportunities to be had at Marshalls!

Pink accent towels tie in with the walls of the bedroom.

I found this fun vintage lion towel ring on Ebay.  I adore it!

I painted a chipped rattan stool I found at a flea market a glossy black and it totally transformed it.  I am glad to have a place to store our extra towels since before I was keeping them on top of the toilet- ICK!

Next up is Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home.  You are in for a treat.  Jennifer has the balance of modern and traditional down pat and her home is always a breath of fresh air.

Oh I love it all. Your living room is fabulous with all your gorgeous blues and that wonderful zebra in your dining room is still a favorite of mine. Pink for your master bedroom is perfect, such a gorgeous space. The lighting is especially wonderful. Thanks so much for joining the tours, your home is always one of my favorites.

    • Thanks so much Marty! I am just feeling giddy to have my master bedroom done. It went from one of my least favorite rooms in the house to one of my favorites. Thanks for putting the tour together!

  2. You have such a beautiful home Jennifer. I love love love the colors you use throughout and will always have wallpaper envy 😉

    • Thanks so much Julia! Sometimes I worry I use too much color, but it makes me happy and that is what really matters! I am still in love with that wallpaper two years later!!

  7. I’m a first timer and so happy I stumbled upon your blog this morning! I love everything about your home, but I love the little things, the details you add to your spaces. I love the tassels on the Ikea curtains and those sconces in the master and that lion towel ring in the bathroom!!! You have a beautiful home!

    • Thank you Elizabeth. I am so glad you found me! As they say, “It’s all in the details.” Actually for me, since I am in a small home, I run out of places to decorate, so I have to focus on the little things 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

  8. It’s all so bright and fun, Jennifer! We have similar taste and style, but you have definitely perfected it. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home with us!

  9. I love all the pops of color in your home! So bright and cheery! Wishing you a very happy Summer!

  10. Michele says:

I love your entire house–especially the blush in your master! I was going to ask for info on the paint but saw that my question had already been answered in the comments above. Thanks to the summer tour I now have a new blog to follow!

  11. Jennifer – love your home, colors and styling. I am obsessed with the zebra and also the bust. Where or where did you get these items?

    • Hi Penny. The zebra was a vintage find from an estate sale. You could probably find something similar on Etsy or Chairish. The bust was a Homegoods find and I see similar ones there quite frequently if you have one close by. Thanks for stopping by!

  12. The colors and textures in your home are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
